What is U-Pass BC and why it is important for Simon Fraser University (SFU) students to link with Compass Card?
U-Pass BC is a student transit program delivered in partnership with the Simon Fraser Student Society (SFSS), TransLink, and the Ministry of Transportation. Students who are eligible in U-Pass BC will get validity on 3 zones for all TransLink Bus, SkyTrain, and SeaBus services throughout Metro Vancouver. There will be no additional fares to be paid including the YVR airport surcharge seven days per week for the entire month.
They will receive a discount on West Coast Express and the pass is also valid for use with HandyDART services
Note: U-Pass is a mandatory service whether you load or not, you will be charged

- Enrolled in at least one course located on-campus or within Metro Vancouver (including courses being held remotely)
- Enrolled in 3 or more units OR tuition fee is over $680
- Assessed the undergraduate student activity fee

How to get your U-Pass BC at Simon Fraser University (SFU)?
- Visit the SFU office and get your student’s ID card
- Before applying for U-Pass BC, you need to pay full term fees associated with the registration (check with college once)
- You will be sent message by Translink by 9 PM.
- Activate your pass next day
- If you have compass card, visit upassbc.translink.ca and activate

- If you do not have Compass card yet, you can buy compass card is the first step
- Next step is to visit U-Pass BC Official site and link your Compass card
- Select your college as Langara College
- Sign in to your U-Pass BC account
- Link your Compass Card
- Click to request your U-Pass BC
- Do not forget to load every month of 16th and it takes 24 hours to reflect

The U-Pass BC fee is $45.10 per month from May 1, 2023 to April 30, 2024.
2024 to 2025
The fee will increase to $46.00 per month from May 1, 2024 to April 30, 2025

Yes, you can transfer to a new card if your compass card is lost / stolen.
