HandyDART Customer Care, Fare types, Cost, How to use?, Pick-up/Drop-off Location Map

HandyDART is an accessible transit service in British Columbia that uses vans or small buses to transport disabled or elderly passengers who cannot use the normal transit system. This service provides door-to-door service and is available in all of the province’s larger centres, as well as in many smaller communities.

What is HandyCard?

The HandyCard is a photo ID card for customers traveling with the assistance of others who cannot use the conventional method. Cardholders can travel on buses, Skytrain, Seabus and West Coast Express. They are then entitled to concessionary fares and free travel for their attendants.

How to register your HandyCard?

Eligibility

  • People with physical, sensory or cognitive disabilities
  • Others are unable to use regular public transportation without assistance
  • Children under 12 accompanied by a registered HandyDART customer can travel free on transit service without the need for a paid product or proof of identification.

Procedure to register

  1. Download the HandyCard application form
  2. Enter the name, Pick – Up and Mailing address
  3. Enter the emergency contact details
  4. If you require a mobility aid to travel on the HandyDART then select
  5. This form must be printed and signed by both the applicant and a medical authority.
  6. After completed the form send to following address

How to use Compass card on HandyDART?

  • In transit everywhere in Metro Vancouver with the compass on HandyDART, you can navigate.
  • HandyDART offers discounted rates, tabs, monthly passes and so on. You can get it too.
  • Convenience of tapping to pay Contactless Credit Cards.

On Board:

  • Book your HandyDART trip as you normally would and make sure to always bring your Compass Card.
  • When boarding a HandyDART vehicle, only a tap-in is required. You do not need to tap out to end a trip.
  • Your attendant or HandyDART driver can always help if you require assistance tapping.

How to link your Compass Card and HandyDART account?

  • Purchase a refundable Compass Card
  • Register your Compass Card
  • Set up AutoLoad and/or Add Stored Value
  • Linking your Compass Card with your HandyDART account allows customer service

How to book your ride at HandDART?

1.Subscription trips:

  • Repeating trips that are taken to and from the same locations at the same times (on a daily or weekly basis)

2.Casual trips:

  • Trips taken on a one-time basis

How does U-Pass work on HandyDART?

  • U-Pass students will use their Compass Card as a Flash Pass on HandyDART. You do not need to tap in and out at HandyDart.

Are dogs allowed on HandyDART ride?

  • No. Pets are not allowed on HandyDART vehicles.

Is Mobility Aid allowed on ride?

Yes. But the combined weight of the customer and the mobility device must not exceed 360 kg (800 lbs)
Your mobility aid must be clean, in good working order, and adhere to the following dimension

  • Length: 122 cm (48 in.)
  • Width: 94 cm (37 in.)
  • Weight: 250 kg (550 lbs.)
