What is U-Pass BC and why it is important for Douglas College students to link with Compass Card?
U-Pass BC is a universal transit program offered by Douglas College in partnership with the Douglas Students’ Union (DSU), TransLink and the Province of British Columbia. Students who are eligible in U-Pass BC will get validity on 3 zones for all TransLink Bus, SkyTrain and SeaBus services throughout Metro Vancouver. There will be no additional fares to be paid including the YVR airport surcharge seven days per week for the entire month.
They will receive a discount on West Coast Express and the pass is also valid for use with HandyDART services
Note: U-Pass is a mandatory service whether you load or not, you will be charged
Eligibility to join U-Pass BC program in Douglas College
- Douglas Students’ Union (DSU) members
- Who pays Student union fees
- Students taking Math and English upgrading courses (MATU/ENGU) will be required to participate in the program if they are paying student union fees and they have 12 hours of instructional class time per week or more.
- Domestic students taking ELLA courses.
How to get your U-Pass BC at Douglas College?
- Visit the Douglas College campus office and get your student’s ID card
- Before applying for U-Pass BC, you need to pay full term fees associated with the registration (check with college once)
- You will be sent message by Translink by 9 PM.
- Activate your pass next day
- If you have compass card, visit upassbc.translink.ca and activate

- Next step is to visit U-Pass BC Official site and link your Compass card
- Select your college as Douglas College
- Sign in to your U-Pass BC account
- Link your Compass Card

- Do not forget to load every month of 16th and it takes 24 hours to reflect

The U-Pass BC fee is $45.10 per month from May 1, 2023 to April 30, 2024.

The fee will increase to $46.00 per month from May 1, 2024 to April 30, 2025
